I loved this thing. I could get way sidetracked from just library stuff into life and fun. I tried a few of the directories. I liked podcastalley.com best as I was able to get a nice list of podcasts from Minnesota. A search on Yahoo generated a lot of music hits, which wasn't what I was looking for. Podcast.net was a 404. The Education Podcast Network had lots of interesting podcasts. I may go back and listen to some of them later. Podcast.com had a lot of interesting listings. Their books category includes many book reviews, including those by the New York Times and Nancy Pearl.
I found and listened to portions of two Minnesota podcasts. I couldn't resist Lucky Bitch Radio, the creation of a "sober drag queen." I was intrigued to find out that he/she just picked up her press credentials for the RNC. That could be an interesting perspective! I discovered a lot of high quality productions at Minnesota Public Radio. I listened to a podcast on sandwich generation caregivers, as part of the "How's the Family?" series with Nanci Olesen. It was very informative and worthwhile.
Right now I can't see myself podcasting. To be honest, I don't have one of those theatrical or radio voices. I don't really enjoy listening to myself. Also, if you podcast, you should make a commitment to do it regularly and keep it up. I'm not ready for that commitment right now. I'm struggling to keep up with the blogs that come to my Bloglines account. Therefore, I'm not ready to add rss feeds for podcasts. However, I have learned that there's many valuable educational and entertaining podcasts out there. It would certainly add a new element to the walking I've committed to do.
