Thing 22: What Did I Learn Today?

I resolve to maintain my blog and continue to use the tools I've discovered as well as learning about new tools and developments. I will use some of the tools I've discovered while doing the 23 Things. I just edited my Bloglines account, adding a few of the blogs and sites suggested in this thing and culling some blogs that seem less active or interesting to me now. I was pleased to discover that several of the suggested blogs were already in my Bloglines account. I now have 54 feeds, about my limit. I realized that choosing RSS feeds is a lot like my work as a librarian: I select materials based on my audience (me) and collecting policy, choosing what I believe to be the best and representing diverse viewpoints. Similarly, I have a weeding policy for pulling items that are no longer actively published or do not meet my current interests and collecting policy.

Other tools I will use are Del.icio.us for keeping track of websites and materials, tagging, podcasts, wikis, Flickr. I'm interested in doing more with You Tube and some of the image tools but may do more of that on my own time.

Now I know why my boss, who completed these things during the first round, is still blogging. I, too, plan to blog here about Library 2.0 stuff. I may even do a personal blog. I've found that I enjoy the process.
